Thesis title: Designing oligoarginine-associated PECA nanoparticles for enhanced cellular uptake
Co-supervisors: Prof. Ian Tucker (School of Pharmacy, University of Otago), Dr Bernie McLeod (AgResearch, Invermay)
Project description: Poly(alkylcyanoacrylate) or PACA nanoparticles hold great potential and value in future oral delivery system. And now, with the recent discovery of cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs), superior oral bioavailability may be possible with the synergistic effect of CPPs incorporated into nanoparticulate systems. This revolution will make future oral medicines more effective.
I will be investigating the mechanisms involved in the uptake of PACA nanoparticles from the gut of the common brushtail possum and assessing any enhancement effect that CPPs can possibly provide.
