Thesis title: Nanoparticulate systems for oral delivery of biocontrol agents to the common brushtail possum

Project description:

Polymeric alkylcyanoacrylate (PACA) delivery systems are well established as potential candidates for the peroral delivery of bioactives. Future therapeutics for chronic diseases in humans and fertility control for animals involve proteins and peptides to be delivered via the oral route.

PACA nanoparticles appeal through their biodegradability, biocompatibility and their ease of preparation. Alex’s work has been characterising poly(ethylcyanoacrylate) (PECA) nanoparticles containing gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) analogues using MALDI-TOF.

The MALDI-TOF work is done in association with Dr Torsten Kleffmann (Department of Biochemistry, University of Otago).

Subsequent position:

After graduating, Alex was appointed as a Scientist at Coriolis Pharma (www.coriolis-pharma.com) in Munich, Germany.
