(p\u016bh\u0101)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Co-supervsior:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Prof. Thomas Rades (University of Copenhagen, Denmark)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Project description:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Puha, one of the traditional Maori food plants, is an antioxidant super-food with more antioxidants than blueberries.\u00a0 Puha has potential as an accessible source of natural antioxidants, with associated health\u00a0 benefits.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">During this project I will investigate:<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"Bullet\">\u2022<\/span>\u00a0 Identification of active antioxidant compounds in p\u016bh\u0101 leaf extracts<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"Bullet\">\u2022<\/span>\u00a0 Optimization of extraction efficacy and storage conditions<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"Bullet\">\u2022<\/span>\u00a0 Evaluation of\u00a0<span class=\"style_1\">in vitro<\/span>\u00a0cellular activity of p\u016bh\u0101 leaf extracts, including cellular antioxidant activity in HepG2 cells and anti-aging effects on WI-38 cells<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_style_1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Subsequent position: <span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>After graduation, Ellen moved to Auckland to take up the position of Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist at LabPLUS, Auckland District Health Board.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>College: Yunnan Agricultural University, China Project title: Formulation of antioxidant phytochemicals from Sonchus oleraceus L.
